A TOAST Roast for Christmas

One of my readers recently invited me to my vary first Burning Man themed TOAST Roast and gave me little more information than what was on the flyer.  Of course my curiosity got the best of me, so I braved Ice Storm 2013 and off I went to explore the world of Burning Man in my own backyard.

Burning Man is a week long community festival that takes place in the Nevada desert every year.  It celebrates all forms of art and self-expression which means that you're in for an art/life buffet of just about anything you can imagine.  With all of these possibilities I had no idea what to expect Saturday night.

My first question was "what do I wear?". The answer - anything.  And truly that's the only answer to give.  There were people in gowns, party dresses and suits as you'd expect from any holiday party, but there were plenty of folks who thought a little more outside the box when they selected their outfits for the evening.  There were people in S&M gear, light up costumes and headdresses. Heck, some didn't even get dressed at all and decided to celebrate in their underpants.  It was awesome to be in a place where everyone was welcome no matter what they chose to wear.

With such an interesting and varied cast of characters I wondered what I was in for.  We were treated to a poetry reading, hula hoop performance, live music and a few electronic DJs.  But if you're interested in being more of an active participant than an observer, there's room for that too.  They had an interactive light display set up and a hot tub filled with toy balls.  It sounded strange to me, but I got in anyway.  I'm glad that I did because it felt like a little mini massage and brought back some really fun childhood memories.

If you're interested in trying something a little more risque, there was also a special tent set up with all the accoutrements for a good spanking.  I opted not to enter, but that didn't stop anyone from seeking me out to give me a little taste.  OUCH!

The open gift bar definitely helps to lessen everyone's inhibitions and that makes for a very freeing and enjoyable evening.  I'm already thinking about what kind of craziness I can wear for the next one.  Maybe something with padding...
