Lacrosse is our national sport and Toronto has a decent team, so why are we spending some much time, money and energy on teams like, oh I don't know, the Maple Leafs? I'm not going to rag on Leaf Nation, instead I'm going to suggest sharing the love with your Toronto Rock.
It all started in 1999 when I attended my first lacrosse game at Maple Leaf Gardens. I was hooked. A fantastic game unfolded before us full of speed, agility and toughness. In the stands, the energy was high and tempers flared. I'm pretty sure I heard someone yell, "hit 'em in the head!". This is not a game for the faint of heart.
Well, now it's 2014 and after taking a lacrosse time-out for reasons I can't explain, I had tickets in my hands once again. It was a pretty big game where the Toronto Rock were taking on the Philadelphia Wings for a playoff spot, which meant that the fans were especially enthusiastic.
Here are my three favourite things about Toronto Rock games:
1. It's a fantastic game. The action is fast paced and aggressive, which means you won't get bored watching it.
2. Great seats can be purchased at a reasonable price point.
3. The spectators are into it. Their enthusiasm is infectious and you can't help but join in the cheers.
Best of luck to our boys in the playoffs. I hope that some of you will be able to get out there, show your support and have a great time.
