Happy 2015!!!

Well, here we are.  We've survived 2014.  It was a big news year with lots of things happening across the globe and I had a pretty big year in my own little world too.  Thanks to everyone who has been reading Stuff and Places and a HUGE thank you to all of you who have helped me create moments to write about.  I've had a lot of fun and learned a great deal.

For New Years Eve this year I incorporated a few traditions that I have learned about on my travels and by meeting wonderful new friends from different parts of the globe.

I spent my evening with some of the people who mean most to me and at midnight we popped champagne.  We also participated in the Ecuadorian tradition of setting our intentions on fire.  I scribbled down my grievances and gratitude from the past year and outlined my intentions for the year ahead.  As it went up in flames I felt as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and refreshed for whatever this new year has in store for me.

I also participated in a Brazilian New Year's Eve tradition.  I was gifted a pair of underpants in a colour that represents my biggest wish for the upcoming year.  The only rules are that they have to be new and given to you instead of purchased by you.

Here are the colour meanings:

White: Peace and tranquility
Yellow: Prosperity
Red: Passion, romantic or otherwise
Pink: Romance
Blue:Peace and serenity
Green: Luck, hope and a rejuvenation of energy
Purple: Inspiration, transformation and stability
Orange: Creativity

I hope that all of your intentions for 2015 become your reality.  Let's lace up our hiking shoes, slip on our flip flops, strap on our cramp-ons or step into those high heels and make this year memorable.
