A Spring Wreath

The cold, grey and dull winter is really starting to give me a case of the "winter blues", so when a coworker approached me with a bag of craft flowers I was pretty excited to remind myself that spring is coming and we will have sunshine, warmth and colour in our lives again soon. And when that happens, I'm going to be ready with a beautiful wreath on my front door.

Adding lights to a flip top vanity

For Christmas this year I got just what I wanted.  A new cordless drill for all of my DIY projects and a flip top vanity for my boudoir.  I had been doing all of my primping sitting on the floor so this really felt like a monumental step into adulthood.  I excitedly rushed home, assembled it, re-upholstered the seat to match my room and then sat down for my close up.  Trouble was, the level of brightness in my room is perpetually set to romantic and I couldn't see what I was doing.  The liquid eye liner disaster that ensued proved that this just would not do. I needed a solution.

Basquiat at the AGO

I knew this was going to be HUGE when First Thursday tickets sold out in less than an hour.  Sadly, I was not one of the lucky ones and had to wait an extra three days to check out the exhibit.  Jean-Michel Basquiat was an artist in New York in the 1980's whose work explored many different taboo themes for the time.  He died at the age of 27, but still managed to create a large body of work that is raw, expressive and beautiful.  The AGO currently has 85 of these pieces on display in their exhibit: "Now's The Time".

A night out with Tapestry Opera

When was the last time you were at the opera?  If I were to ask this of my friends most of them would look at me with a blank stare because they had never even considered going to the opera.  And I would have to understand that because aside from that whole awesome red dress, diamond necklace, private jet thing in Pretty Woman, the opera doesn't really come up too often.
