love art

The Love Art fair was in Toronto from April 16-19 at the Direct Energy Centre at the CNE.  The fair is a relaxed way to see, purchase and learn about collecting art.  It's aim is to remove the pretension from art buying and attract an audience that may have been too intimidated to walk into a gallery otherwise.

The LOVE ART fair is also considered to be an "afforable" art fair with nothing over $10,000 and most pieces under $5,000.  If your jaw just dropped because I put Affordable and $10,000 in the same sentence, I hear ya.  I haven't been able to save that kind of cheddar for a piece of art either.  Luckily, there were also a number of pieces for under $100.  And even if you didn't buy anything, you got to enjoy a lot of beautiful art.

The fair also boasted a number of talks aimed at getting people more comfortable with the idea of art collecting and giving them some much needed guidance on how to go about it.  There was even a mini art studio for the kids. Cute.

And although neither of us found that "perfect" piece, at least Marcia found a date.  So that was nice.
