I love a good ol' fashioned drum circle. There's something about strangers coming together to create something in a public space that excites me, and if dancing is involved, it's pretty much my token to happiness. Combine that with a spontaneous weekend trip to Montreal, the energy of Frosh week and 40 degree weather and you've got yourself one crazy party.
Where can you find this party? Why at the bottom on Mont Royal, of course. The drummers gather at the Sir George Etienne Cartie statue every Sunday from late spring through to the fall starting in the late morning and going into the late afternoon. Feel free to bring your own, drum, shaker, tambourine or conch and join in on the merriment and music making.
We grabbed some sandwiches and had a picnic in the park before getting up to dance. It was a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon and blend in with the locals. Just be sure to leave your inhibittions at home and be ready to break a sweat.
